Unable to find an on-point tutorial. In terms so simple even I can follow them, how does one post a "screen shot" here. If properly done will it show in "Preview Post" before it's posted? Thanks in advance.

YES.
if its an IMG, you will see it in "preview". If it's a URL link, you can click on it to confirm that it's all good.

OK. I test-posted my first screen shot and it worked!!! But a couple of follow-ups please:

1) What's best (or most polite)....post the img or just the URL?

2) What if I need to post a screen shot of a single window containing a long list of stuff, something that has to be scrolled thru to see all of it? Perhaps do it in two or more shots?

Due to the fact that many are on dial-up ISP's - generally it would be best to
post the URL. This also saves some bandwidth for the web site you are posting on.

One could also chose to post a "thumbnail" and individuals could then opt to
expand the item or not.

I would make a single screen shot of most items, unless in doing so would cause
an overt problem on the site hosting your "shot"...

(Just one opinion - there will be more.)

Edit: The smaller items as you did in the test section generally are fine posted here.
I would only be concerned with items over a couple hundered Kb's....

Whether to post the link or the actual screen dump depends on two things, it seems to me. Will a small screen dump in the body of the message be enough to explain,clarify, or solve the problem, and it is pertinent. Will the dump fit on the message body and be readable? If so, then post within the document.
If the screen print is by way of illustration, or too large to comfortably fit on a reply page, or could only be easily read in a larger format, then use the link in the body of the message.
Bear in mind that any dump posted here takes extra bandwidth for the board, and those with dial up access may have a longer wait to see the pic posted here. This applies especially if you post multiple graphics.
