Hey everyone, havent been on here for a while but its good to be back. On my computer it is set up so that the hard drive is E:\ and the Zip 250 is C:\ and the DVD drive is D:\. There hasnt been any problems being set this way except when I open antispyware or antivirus programs. They state a message saying "There is no disc in drive C:\" and the buttons are something along the lines of "Cancel, Retry, Continue" The only way to get this error box to close is to put a disk in the zip drive (because it is drive C:) and hit continue. The disk is blank, but after it 'sees' that there is a disk in there it will continue noramlly. The thing is that it randomly does it, it doesnt do it every time. Is there anything I can do to stop it from doing this?

This is probably caused by your unusual system setup. The error will only appear when a program looks for something in the C: drive. At times the programs will remember the previous status of the C: drive, and at other times it will have to check (this is determined by the writers of the program).

The surest solution is to make your hard drive the C: drive - but that's a heck of a lot of work to do just to eliminate a few error messages.

Move the Zip drive to a letter other than C:\.

Yes thats why I havent done that, it only does it with 1 or 2 programs I dont use all to often, and plus this computer ACTUALLY WORKS other than this, so I wouldnt want to mess something up by trying to reinstall. Plus it puts the computer down for longer than I would like, and it takes too long to d/l all my programs again.



I thought about doing that, but im not sure the computer would still run without a C: drive? And if I did eliminate the C: drive, and the program still shows the error, how would I get out of it, since the only way to get rid of the error was to put a disk in C: drive and hit 'continue', and since there is no C: drive...well yah.

hi Nick,

something to try, why not make a new partition, as small as you like, on your e: drive, i think when windows restarts it will automatically call this c:, if not you can change your zip drive to z: or whatever, and rename new partition c: in disk management.

Are you sure your av ap is not targeting the C: drive and therefor worthless?

Just try it. It will work!

If the program still gets the error, which I do not believe it will, you could put the drive back to the C: drive.

Well i went and changed the zip drive to F: and it didnt show the error on either programs. So I guess it worked...at least for now lol. Thanks for your help.
