A needed shared file was missing from my office network so I re-ran the office network setup in xp on the computer. I accidently selected to not share files/printers. I found that the shared folder on that computer was missing so I ran the setup again, selecting to share the files/printers. The file still doesn't show up on the network and now on the computer itself. Has if been deleted? Have I lost the files for good that were on there? How do I get it back?

Well you can make sure all the hidden files are being shown... other wise, I can suggest you go to start, then run, then cmd, and then type in
dir /s /p "exact file name"
or if you know where on the folder was located, you could always do a few other things... things vanishing on shared, usually wind up being seen in command prompt.

I'm going to try the and post the results. Thanks.

It said the file was not found. I then found a link to the shared folder on sharing tab of another file. I clicked on the link and it said:

c:\documents and settings\all users\documents in not accessible.
Access is denied.

When I go to the location and click on the folder I get the same message. Also, the folder is not hidden. Is there a way to allow access or is it not allowing because the folder is not there? I hope that's not the case.

It seems that "c:\documents and settings\all users\documents" is not a shared folder.

The default Shared Documents folder is located at: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents
