Full Version: Virusburst And Icodec
BleepingComputer.com > Security > Am I infected? What do I do?

The Virusburst infiltrates by way of a thing called Icodecpack which you would agree to download when you wanted to look at a porno video. I found a malware protection site called Prevx.com that has a free trial download. It seems to work on keeping those demented warnings from this Virusburst from popping up from your tray. I tried to remove Icodecpack 7.0 from the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. The Prevx software popped up and said I maybe shouldn't do it. I suppose the Icodecpack thing can re-infest itself when you try and uninstall it.

What to do?

See if this self-help guide works:
How To Remove Virusburst (removal Instructions)

Actually I followed those instructions and it appeared that the Virusburst was gone. But when I rebooted, the Virusburst bubbles kept coming back. It seems that Icodecpack somehow reinstalls Virusburst. Problem is, when you try to uninstall Icodecpack from Control Panel-Add/Remove Programs, a window pops up that says "You should reboot your computer prior to uninstalling this software. Reboot now?"
Well that means your screwed. It won't uninstall that way. This evens happens in Safe Mode.

I suggest you post a HijackThis log for examination.
A member of the HijackThis Team will walk you through, step by step, how to disinfect your computer.

Once you post your log, don't make any changes to your system, as that could change the results of the posted log, making it more difficult to properly clean your system.

Read Preparation Guide for use before posting a HijackThis Log.
Please read, and follow, all directions carefully!!!

Then, run a log, and post it in the HijackThis forum, at this link. Do not, fix anything, yet.
A member, of the HJT Team, will help you out.
It may take a while to get a response, because the HJT Team are very busy. Please, be patient, as these people are volunteers. They will help you out, as soon as possible.

NOTE:
Once you have made the post, please, DO NOT make another post in the HJT forum, until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. The first thing they look for, when looking for logs to reply to, is 0 replies. If you make another post, there will be 1 reply. The team member, glancing over the replies, might assume someone is already helping you out, and will not respond. So, just make your post, and let it sit there, until a team member responds. This way you will be taken care of, in the most timely manner.

I have split your HJT log away from this thread and moved it into the HJT forum.

You can find your log here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic65295.html
