Amazing Andrew
The hard drive on my XP machine died on Friday afternoon. Now, I'm temporarily using my office's "spare" computer until a new drive is purchased. This computer runs Windows 2000 Pro SP4. I want to know if the backups I made using XP's backup utility can be used on a machine running Windows 2000 Pro SP4.

The backups were made, like I said, using the Windows XP built-in backup program and were saved to my office's server.

If not, it's no big deal. At least I have backups for when I get the new drive. icon_thumb.gif

It worked on mine.

As a test, I backed up a folder on my XP computer to our network.
I went on my Windows 2000 computer and I was able to restore the folder from the network using the built-in backup utility. I also picked Alternate Location , and restored it to a test folder so it would not restore the files over something that I needed on the Windows 2000 computer.

Thanks!
