My mother is running Win 98. She is now getting the plain box W/ the red X in the upper left corner. Had her open IE/Internet Ops./Advance/go to multimedia/ make sure box is checked for show pictures. Did this and box was checked, however still getting red x when trying to view pictures and/or e-cards. At a loss as to what to tell her now. help anybody!! thanks in advance Wolf

Try temporarily shutting down your firewall as an experiment.
I have seen Zone Alarm cause this when the security settings were set too high
