i was thinking about adding another harddrive i have to my computer,to gain more space.
2 things
1. i am afraid that i contains viruses and malware and such,so im afraid to connect it to my current comp to erase the whole harddrive
2.if i indeed do put in this new hd do i have to put on a copy of windows xppro aswell(i have on my current hd) or can i just hook it up and it will recognize my operating system?

the harddrive i want to hook up currently has windows me on it. and i am almost 100% positive it contains viruses and malware

the harddrive i have in my comp has windows xp pro, but it unfourtuneatly is not a genuine copy(person sold me it without disc) so i want to know if i have to buy a copy to put on other hd or not.

ANSWER: It could spread the viruses. if i were you id put it in and do a full virus, spyware, and malware scan asap.

ANSWER: No you will not have to do that. a second harddrive will act as a slave, it will only give you more room on your computer you will not have to install windows xp pro on it. (just make sure the programs on it can work with xp!)

ANSWER: yes, you should buy a genuine copy of windows as soon as possible, if you dont yourcomputer is going to start acting funny (if you know what i mean)

You can install a second hard drive in another computer as a 'slave' drive. The working computer should still boot up from the Master hard drive, and then you will be able to navigate (Start > My Computer) to the slave drive and use it for data storage.
