Hello all.
I cant figure this one out at all!
I am a tech. I do tech support all day, every day for a living.
My system dual boots 98 and XP. I usually run the 98 side.
Recently I was doinking around with the colors on the MSN site using 98. www.msn.com.
I decided I liked it better the original way so I clicked Restore Defaults.
Ever since I did that the MSN home page is like in text mode.
If you ever saw the Internet 10+ years ago, or so, you will understand what I mean.
Its like HTML is not displaying correctly, only for www.msn.com.
Everything else is fine. When I boot XP it is fine.
The system is virus and spyware free
I ran CCleaner figuring it was a cookie
Any ideas?

Hi there! Your're a tech, guess what, so am i!
Anyway, (I have actually heard of this)
This issue seems really random and not very common at all, or maybe Windows 98 doesnt like CSS... Anyway, all i suggest is for you to to
HERE and see what you get. Is you still get the same problem after going
THERE then please say so, because this solution worked for a Windows XP computer, and it might work for 98 too.

Your link has the same problem.
I have seen this happen on other systems before. Refreshing the page always took care of it.
What is the solution that you had for an XP system? I would like to take a look at that.
Since the issue is only on the MSN main page it leads me to believe that it is a cookie or temporary Internet file. I cleaned all of them out.
Formatting will fix it for sure but the system dual boots 98 & XP. I would have to reload both Oses.
There has to be a simple soltion to this!
BTW my default browser is not IE. I use MYIE2 (now Maxthon). Both do the same thing. I am toying with the idea of loading Netscape as an experiment.

I loaded Netscape just for fun.
Netscape does the same thing.
Time to format and reload.
I can do that in an afternoon easy.
But with the dual boot I have to reinstall everything for 98 and XP.
Thank you Bill Gates!
Linux is always an option

Ive done that both with CCleaner and manually. Killed the cookies too.
Installed TweakUI and repaired the Temporary internet files.
Ran the IE repair tool. Ran Regclean twice.
Netscape does the same thing
Totally stumped with this one!

Netscape 4.7 shouldnt use anything from Internet explorer at all. It does the same thing. That leads me to believe that the issue is in the registry.
Msn.com is the homepage. I use it all the time too.
Any other ideas or input before I nuke it?

A full reinstall of IE6 SP1 appears to have resolved the problem!
Yippee! That was my last resort!
