Microsoft will update a patch by next Tuesday that's causing a version of IE (Internet Explorer) to suddenly crash...The patch, MS06-042...The trouble affects users running IE 6.0 with Service Pack 1.0 on the Windows XP OS (operating system) running Service Pack 1 or the Windows 2000 OS with Service Pack 4...The fixed patch will be available through Microsoft's Download Centre and through Windows Update...

"Today, Microsoft released a patch to the patch they released yesterday which patched a previous patch from last week wich addressed issues with a previous patch from last month which was a major overhaul of the original program. A Microsoft spokesperson admitted that no one actually remebers what the original program was called or what it did, but promised that this patch would make whatever it is do whatever it does with a 5% less chance of catastrophic system failure. Maybe."

Can't even get the bloody fixes to work right... grumble smashcomp.gif

One would think that, since MS seems to take a very long time to issue security patches, they would at least thoroughly TEST their patches before releasing them to the general public.
I have been in the habit of downloading their patches manually, and then waiting a week or so before installing them for this very reason.

But John, if we all do this, who will beta test? hysterical.gif

The same people who rush out and buy Vista as soon as it comes out.

Mr Alpha
I have a feeling we will all be beta testers for Vista for years to come, as we have been for XP and most other software.
