I received a error message that said I would need to uninstall Nortons and reinstall in order for it to work properly. I run Windows XP and for about two months I have been having problems with the computer crashing and then a message from Windows which stated that my system had recovered from a serious error. To make a long story short, I uninstalled Nortons and then reinstalled it. I had also received the message from Microsoft that my system was probably infected with "Spyware.Apropos C." When I reinstalled Nortons now I keep getting a message from Norton Anti Virus Auto Protect which states that a virus with the name Spyware.Apropos C has infected my system and I need to scan. Then something prevents Norton's antivirus from starting the scan. Also, the Norton's Icon in my system tray has a red x on it and it says it is disabled. I have contacted Norton's and I do not wish to pay an arm and a leg for assistance as I thought the warranty, on the product which has another 77 days before it expires, would enable me to receive assistance should something sneak around Norton's. Does anyone have any idea as to how to take care of this problem? I went to Microsoft and ran a virus scan in safe mode from their web site but it still did not touch the Spyware.Apropos C which must be embedded somewhere. I also attempted a scan from Symantac itself but it would not work. I feel like I paid a lot of money for something that is not worth anything.
Help.
Sincerely, Babs
