Well, perhaps in the sense that 'mime' means 'imitate'. A mimeograph machine is used to make duplicate copies. Here's how it works. First you type whatever it is, like Sunday morning's bulletin, on a stencil. The stencil has a hard white paper back, and the front sheet is a beautiful cobalt blue. The typewriter will cut the letters into the blue stencil part. If you make a mistake you need to use a special blue stencil correction fluid which closes up the cut hole again. After it's typed, the white paper back is removed from the stencil. There are large perforated holes in the top of the stencil which is a white stiff paper. These holes fit onto the small pegs at one side of the mimeograph drum. The stencil is smoothed over the drum and the loose end anchored in place. Now, black mimeograph ink is put into the machine, you put the blank paper in the feed tray, turn the crank which causes the drum to turn and feed the paper through the bottom. The output tray now has nicely printed copies.
