Hello, about 1 hour ago something happened to my computer and i can not go online
or start up many programs.
When i restart my computer i get a Can't load WINSOCK2 DLL error
and when i try to open some programs like games, it tells me
WSASTARTUP Failed.
Any help much appreciated.

Shut down the computer and then boot into safe mode.
Choose "Last known good configuration"
Did that resolve the problem?

Go to start > run and type cmd
A dos Window will appear.
Type next in the dos window: netsh winsock reset
Hit enter and reboot.
See if the connection is restored.

Hey there,
I've spent a while looking and I'm not convinced that command works on 2000, so for the momentdon't worry abouut the error. I had a look on the net and I found a fix for a corrupt winsock chain for Windows 2000, so I think our next step should be to give this a try. If the problem stilll exists after trying the following steps we can start looking at other causes. Can you also tell me
exactly what the errors are you are getting - It will help when I come to researching later on.
Oh and here is the URL for the
Winsockfix for 2000:
