I have a pentium 4, 2.6 Ghz, running Win XP Home and use Netscape 7.2. I am having a huge
problem in removing the wscscw.exe that keeps disabling the Microsoft Windows Security
and have done the following:

I have not be able to remove the wscsvc.exe. Spybot reports it disables
the Microsoft Windows Security Center and fixes the problem with the registry
but does not remove the problem. I have followed the advice given at this
site and downloaded EWIDO anti Spyware and installed it. Got the updates
then ran the program in safe mode. The wscsvc.exe was not found. I also
ran Ad Aware, System Mechanic 5 spyware program, and Avast anti virus.
None of these programs found the virus. Is this a virus or start-up program
installed by spyware? I need HELP in finding a tool that removes this problem
from my computer. Below is the log of what the EWIDO anti spy program
found: If possible please get back with how I can fix my computer.

Also why is did I have to run EWIDO in safe mode? Should the other programs
I have on this computer also be run in safe mode?

I need help in removing this trojan.

I suggest you post a HijackThis log for examination.
A member of the HijackThis Team will walk you through, step by step, how to disinfect your computer.

Once you post your log, don't make any changes to your system, as that could change the results of the posted log, making it more difficult to properly clean your system.

Read Preparation Guide for use before posting a HijackThis Log.
Please read, and follow, all directions carefully!!!

Then, run a log, and post it in the HijackThis forum, at this link. Do not, fix anything, yet.
A member, of the HJT Team, will help you out.

You already posted about this problema at virtualdr.com and then posted about it again here at BC.

tg1911 and a moderator from the other site have both requested you to post a hijackthis log. I suggest you follow the instructions you have been given and post your log either in the HJT Forum here or according to the rules at the other site where you requested assistance.

Please keep any further discussion on your problem in this thread unless you are going to post a log in the HJT forum. To avoid confusion I closed your duplicate thread in the link I mentioned above. We are more than willing to provide any help that we can but posting in different areas makes this task harder for all concerned.

The computer I am talking about is at another location. I will be there this
weekend. I have Avast anti virus, Spy Bot, Ad aware, and system
mechanic 5 on that computer. I am a little confused as to what you want
me to do. I will keep all my posts onto this forum. I beleive you want me
to download and do a scan with the sypkiller you recommened. But do you
also want me to do something with Ad aware and sypbot? Let me know
exactly I should proecced.

I want you to read and follow all instructions in the pinned topic titled "Preparation Guide For Use Before Posting A Hijackthis Log". There are several recommended scans to perform which include Spybot, Ad-aware and online virus scans. This is followed by instructions for you to download, install and run Hijackthis which will scan certain areas of your system and then create a log to help diagnose the presence of undetected malware.

When you have done that, post your hijackthis log in the HijackThis Logs and Analysis Forum, not here, for assistance by the HJT Team Experts.

Start a new topic, give it a relevant title and post the log along with a brief description of your problem, a summary of any anti-malware tools you have used and a summary of any steps that you have performed on your own. Please include the top portion of the HijackThis log that lists version information. An expert will analyze your log and reply with instructions advising you what to fix.

It may take a while to get a response because the HJT Team members are very busy. Please be patient as they are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have no replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response, a team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

If after 5 days you still have received no response, then post a link to your HJT log here.

After posting a log you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files on your own, etc.) unless advised by a HJT Team member. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, any modification you make may complicate the malware removal process and could adversely affect your system.

I have the problem solved. It was Spybot giving a warning that made no
sense. I removed spybot 1.3 and installed spybot 1.4. The problem
disappeared. I have run so many spyware and virus checks on my
computer I must have the cleanest one in town. I do have one remaining
question. My XP Home has service pack 1 installed but not service pack 2.
I have the service pack 2 cd that I received in 11/2005 and I will install it
now. I ran services misc and only found security account listed but no
security center. I wanted to see if it was active. Why is security center
not listed?

Security Center is a feature of Windows XP Service Pack 2.
