Full Version: System Logs Me Out
BleepingComputer.com > Operating Systems > Windows NT/2000/2003

Coda
Platform: Windows 2000 SP4 (WinNT 5.00.2195)

when I log in with id and password, Windows starts to boot up and then
starts to boot down, where it then asks me to login again.

I've tried booting in SAFE mode and the same thing happens

I don't have the boot disks because I bought it from a friend
who got it from work a long time ago.
I've had the computer for 3 yrs now and everything was fine until recently.

Is this a virus?
I recently cleaned my system two days ago.
Some problems were found and cleaned.

I can boot with an old Windows 98 diskette and can access my data
but don't know what to do next.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks

If you never installed a password in the administratoir account try to boot just using "administrator" without the quotes and with no password as your login.
Coda
I tried the "administrator" login and it didn't work.
I get the message "System could not log you in. Make sure the id and password is correct"

Also to clarify things.

When I enter my id and password the profile settings start to load
then when its done, the sytem says "Saving your Settings." and then
reprompts me to login again.

Boot into safe mode and choose "last known good configuration".
Coda
I just tried the last known configuration and it didn't fix the problem.

You don't need boot disks. What you need is the Windows 2000 Pro installation disk.
