Hello All, I tried putting some new ram into my computer but it started bleeping, so i took it out tried to restart and it is still bleeping and will not start up can anyone help me please. I am on xp. Thanks

Please let us know the make and model of your system (or, if it's custom built - the make and model of your motherboard).

Also please let us know how many beeps and if they're long or short (or if they're all the same length).

I'd suspect that it's either bad RAM (due to static discharge) or that something isn't plugged in correctly and may need to be reseated.

Whenever going into the case of your system you must unplug the system from the wall and you must ground yourself by (at a minimum) holding onto the metal of the case. I know this from experience, having lost 2 sets of RAM by forgetting to do this!

Thanks for the advice my make is a siemens fijitusu i cant remenber the model number but what happened i put some more ram in next to the other ram, my computer would not start upp so i took the ram i had just put in out and left the original ram in and tried to start it but bleeping. The bleeps are all the same sound and length it like b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b.b

You'll have to go look up the model number for us so that we can be sure we're looking at the right BIOS (which affects the beeps).

But, the beeping that you describe sounds like the RAM is fried, or it isn't plugged all the way in. Did you unplug the system from the wall before opening it - and did you ground yourself on the metal chassis while adding/removing the RAM?
