Don't laugh. On Sept. 13, 1956, IBM shipped the first unit of the RAMAC (Random Access Method of Accounting and Control) and set in motion a process that would change the way we live.<br /><br /> <div class='newslinks'><img src='http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/style_images/1/cs_page.gif'> <b>Link: <a href='http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14096484/site/newsweek/' target='_blank'><font color='red'>MSNBC Newsweek Article</font></a><br />
Heretic Monkey
Wow. The machine back then held 5mb's of information. About half of my mp3's wouldn't even fit in that beast, lol (by that i mean that half of my mp3's are above 5mb per song).

It really is amazing to think that today, we have objects smaller than a matchbox that can hold over 100 times the amount of information as the first hard drive. Technology is astonishing.

And now for a bad joke: I'd really hate to see that hard-drive crash......... *zing*
Amazing Andrew
Imagine trying to connect that drive to your PC as a slave, or connect to your USB port! blink.gif

A one-ton disk drive the size of two fridges that held 5mbs of data...I now own a 2 gig flash drive that weighs ounces and is the size of my thumb.

We have come far, my friends! clapping.gif
