I'm a Windows 2000 user, my D drive has disappeared from my computer and replaced itself with a "removable D" drive? Is there something I can do to get it back?
I just joined and hope you can help me.
Thanks in advance.

So Drive D was on the same Physical Drive.
Then one day Win2000 showed it as a removable Media Drive.
Well what I would do is get a bootdisk. Boot up into DOS Prompt. Run FDISK and check to see if the Hard Drive is partitioned that way. If FDISK shows that it is then it is Windows2000. Post back after you do that.

FDisk is going to wipe the drive.
Click on the "My Computer" icon.
What does that show?
Click properties on the D Drive. Click for error checking.
You will probably have to reboot.

FDISK will not wipe the disk if you selct display partition settings.

Can you access the drive either using My Computer or Windows Explorer?

Using an account with administrator rights go to computer management.
Click start/programs/administrative tools/computer management
Click on Disk Management in the left pane
Highlight your "D" partition in the right pane
Right click - what choices does it give you?
