Hi all since i got my new computer all together and sorting everything out, theres one problem i dont know how to get rid of. When I go to play a game or online chat (like tech support) or anything like that that opens in a IE window, I have to click on it first to be able to use the game or whatever. I think it has something to do with ActiveX under Internet Options> security, but I dont know what setting will allow the program to run without clicking on it first. If i roll my mouse over it, a small yellow box appears that says 'Click to activate and use this control.' Thanks in advance for any help!

It is because Microsoft lost a court case.
Nothing wrong with your computer.

I'll explain what I did.

Earlier (months ago) I noticed the "click here to activate" thing on Flash & Java.
After research in Google,I downloaded the Patch Microsoft put out to kill it.
It worked.
Then the new cumulative update came out that would kill the patch that killed original update.

I did not download the new security update.
Then, just for the heck of it,I downloaded it.
It killed the patch.
This was a test, since I knew I could remove the update.
Which I did.
Everything went back to normal.

At Windows Update,I chose to Hide the update so it wouldn't appear every time I went there.

In short,if you have the patch, uninstall the new update & the popup should go away.

You can find the patch here-

It's towards the bottom of the page.

I downloaded the patch but it said it wasnt compatable with the version of IE i was using? I have IE6. Im guessing because I have the new update that was supposed to kill it? Can I just remove that update from the Add/Remove programs?

Yes. Remove it with Add/Remove.

Glad it worked.
Remember to hide the update at Microsoft Update or it will annoy you. excl.gif
