It is pretty straight forward. When prompted where to install the files select the second drive. Similar to when you burn to a CD. If you are going to install Windows on C:\ and Programs\data on D:\ make a "Programs Files" folder on D:\ also. It will help keep your files straight.
You understand that if you have to reinstall windows on C:\ drive you will have to reinstall all of your programs on D:\. I mention this because some believe you reduce the reinstall time by not having the programs on the same drive. This will not work. The programs weave themselves into the windows registry when installed. the only way to do this is thru the installation process. When you reonstall windows you loose these entries. Which means reinstalling everything not just windows.
This does not hold true for data or none program files like mp3, avi, pictures, saved documents like excel and word files.
