Hello, I got a question about my computer. I wanna add some more ram in my computer to AT LEAST 1 gig.
My mobo supports PC2700 DDR SDRAM. My question is; will I have to pair the same types of ram? Currently in my computer I have two 256mb PC2700 sticks or ram of different brands. Is it possibly for me to just buy a 512mb stick and add that to the equation? I only have 3 slots total.
Also, I noticed that PC3200 sticks are cheaper than PC2700 sticks (or so i think) and what if a PC2700 stick is unavailable for me and I am forced to buy a PC3200+ stick. What will happen if I do that and will it cause errors?

If your computer has 4 slots , yes you can just add 1 512Mb module. PC3200 is compatible with most systems. I did an upgede similar to what you described a short time ago. I upgraded a Dell with 1 256Mb DDR module by adding 1 1Gb DDR module.

Yes you can. Put the 512Mb stick in the 1 slot. Also the system will run at the slower RAM speed. It you have PC2700 and PC3200, it will run at PC2700 speed.

make sure u dont go over the maximum amount of ram supported by your motherboard or i dont think it will register it all.
