I switched on my computer this morning and i heard a beeping sound. the alarm did not stop until I unplugged the computer.I can't use my computer. I am a computer novice.

To answer your question, it will be important for the members to know precisely what the beeping sound was, that is, how many beeps the computer sounded. Different beep sequences mean different things.

In order to interpret the beep pattern you are receiving we need to know exactly what version of BIOS your computer has. Probably the easiest way to do this is to download and install the Belarc Advisor by clicking HERE. Run it, and it will produce a report. Look for the version of BIOS on your computer. I just ran it on mine and it looks like this:



In my case my BIOS manufacturer and version is:

Pheonix/Award Technologies, LTD 6.0 PG 3/08/2004
