Hello

I wanted to know more about .NET and its uses?

Also what has it to do with programming.

What is the difference between VB and VB.NET?

Regards

Vinith

.net = network provider in Internet addresses as you know I'm sure.

However ".NET" = one of several comprehensive software development platforms from Microsoft, introduced starting in 2000 as the company's next generation programming environment. Pronounced "dot-NET"

E.g. Microsoft provides several .NET languages, including C# (C Sharp), J# (J Sharp), Managed C++, JScript.NET and Visual Basic.NET (or VB.NET).

As Koan said with programming references, '.net' is also used to refer to websites. Heres a list:

.com = company
.net = network
.edu = education (al)
.gov = government

Then you have such abbrevations as .fr etc. Those stand for the country.

.fr = france

Im sure if you Google it, there will be many more.
