i just got this new video card a while ago and i tried installing it last night, but after i put in the installation cd and installed the drivers, i tried playing a game (the sims 2) and i got a popup saying i didn't have any graphics card compatible with the directX 9.0 thing...before i installed it i uninstalled the previous driver, and when i check 'device manager' in control panel, the only thing new is in the 'other' section: a video controller or something like that....then i tried right clicking on that and i found a button that said "reinstall hardware for this driver" because it stated that there was a problem. when i did that, it said: "this hardware could not be installed:

nvidia geforce mx 4000

the driver selected for this device is not compatible with windows xp (or something similar to that)...now i'm not really sure what to do next. i tried the nvidia site but i can't really find anything relevant

Actually I do not think your card does have direct dx9 support. The game should still work though. The specs show it as being dx8.1 compatible.

This is the latest drivers for nvidia cards:
