There have been so many feathers ruffled over Microsoft's latest Windows Genuine Advantage that finally someone in Seattle (not California as mentioned in topic header) is taking them on in court. One of the things that bothers me is that this Genuine Advantage/Notification stuff matches the Windows to a particular serial number hard drive. That means that when you replace a dead hard drive, reinstall Windows, you would then be told your Windows is illegal because the HD serial number isn't the one WinGenuineAdvantage has for it? I guess it would be impossible to differentiate between a reinstall on new HD by the same owner and an illegal one by the same owner or a crook. There's no way MS is going to get people to ditch their pc just because they lost a hard drive! They'll just not buy pc's with Windows pre-loaded! Wonder how the hard drive manufacturers feel about all this?
