Hello
I have an old IMB thinkpad 600x with a hard drive problem. I THINK it was running Windows 2000 but it might've been running 98...I'm not sure. I don't care about the data or anything, all I want is to get it working. It got a virus and kept shutting down and starting up randomly. Eventually it just crashed and now I cant get it to load windows. I hope the problem is not mechanical because I don't want to buy any parts for this already ancient device.
When I start it up (the battery doesnt even hold a charge anymore so I use the AC plug), it turns on and shows a startup screen. In the upper left corner it says 130496 KB OK. In the upper right corner it has the IBM logo, and in the lower left it says Thinkpad. Then it beeps and switches to a screen with different number values. It says:
TRAP 00000006 =========== EXCEPTION =========
tr=0028 cr0=00000011 cr2=00000000 cr3=00000000
gdt limit=03FF base=00017000 idt limit=07FF base=00017400

edi=00000005 esi=0039F000 ebp=00024120 cr0=00000011 fs=0030 gs=0000
And it just stays there.
When I boot, I can also press F1 and access the Easy-Setup. I don't know what I need to do, but it gives me options such as: config, date/time, password, start up, and restart. It also lists the BIOS version (ITET40WW), the system-unit serial number, the system board serial number, the microprocessor, and the UUID.
This is where I get stuck and can't figure out what to do. I'm a complete noob with boot disks so I dont know how to make one or how to boot off it. I dont even know if thats what I'm supposed to do!
What do I need to do to get windows to run?
Like I said, I dont care if the data is restored and I'd appreciate any help.
