Alrighty, my old power supply finally kicked it. I replaced it with a 450 watt. My computer seemed to run fine at first, but not more than a minute after startup and opening XP did it shut down. However the fan was still running, the computer was not. I started again and opened in safe mode. My PC stayed on for over an hour and ran my AVG and AdAware. Nothing came up and everything seemed normal.

Does a PC run on less power in safe mode? I installed a 20+4 in a 20 pin could that be my problem? Is my Processor overheating? I can't figure out what I did wrong wacko.gif

Confused and annoyed,
Amy

... also the video card I've got is pretty standard, I don't think I need more than a 450watt PS

What make computer do you have, Dell, Compaq...? And what make of PSU did you purchase?

The 20+4 connector shouldn't be an issue, and if the CPU was over heating is should be more consistant. I would go back and check the connections.
