I've got a camera set up in a court room, which has a Cat5 cable running to an Alcatraz video recorder. Instead I want this feed from the camera going directly to a Dell PC. A vendor is telling me that #1, he can take that Cat5 cable from the camera and gender bend it to an S-video connector. He then tells me, if I purchase a new video card with an S-video in port, this camera will be connected to the PC, for purposes of recording the video in the court room, LIVE.

I'm very much doubting that any of this will work, but my main question is, is there such a thing as a video card with S-video IN? I've seen plenty with S-video OUT. Thank you!! I don't want to waste my time, if this item doesn't even exist!

Hello! Believe it or not, they are real. I have a pcmia tv card on a laptop that will support video/audio input for video camera, vcr and camcorder. My supporting software is WinDVR if you want to google it. Cost about $40 as best I remember. Alcatraz in a court room. Quaint.
