I have a compaq presario 1670 laptop using windows 95/98. My desktop looks like it's in "safe mode" when I start it up, but it's not. The color and font size are off but I don't know what my display settings should be set at. I have gone to start, settings, control panel, display. But then ther are amny choices such as true bit 24, true color 256, true color 32 bit...and so on. I've tried different ones but I don't want to make it worse. Any ideas?
Thanks, Mar4

I don't know what your native resolution is, but for starters, try trucolor 32 bit with 800 x 600. If that doesn't look right, go up to 1280 x 764 or whatever is close to that. When you apply the settings without a restart, it should show you a timed screen with an OK to accept button. If you don't, it will revert to what it was. If you can see the screen and it looks good, then click OK.

Thanx for the email, Mar4 ~

It lifts my spirits to know I'm helping.

Glad the advice worked.
