Anyone have any recommendations on surge protections? Right now I live in an apartment building where the electricity is so dirty that my lightbulbs blow every 2 weeks. No joke.

Well my computer at home is having problems, may be hard drive, may be PSU, but I thought it was time that I invested in either a decent power strip that actually has a quality surge supression in it, or even a basic ups.

I dont want to spend too much money..no more than than lets say 70 bucks. Anyone have any suggestions?

Best Buy has some nice ones.

But I cant see where a dirty electrical problem would effect your PC. I would have figgured the Diodes, and Rectifiers in the PSU to take care of most of that.

The best ones to buy are usually found in the surround sound area of your local High-end audio shops.

Well my concern is that the PSU is going. Constant surges can hurt any piece of unprotected equipment.

Please take my advice and go with an integrated UPS system.

(Remember my little cottage fire?)

I am currently using a product by "Nextgrid" which is a simple power strip-
surge protector that can integrate with their UPS batteries.

NO, I'm not affiliated with them, and the "American Power Conversion Corp"
also makes excellent equiptment.

Ya I know APC well. How much did your strip cost?

Also, remember i live in a nyc apt. I dont have much room here smile.gif

I got the strip from "TigerDirect" for 20 USD and am using a single Batt that
was 40 USD - I think...

I just wanted the stability of the UPS and 10 minutes for shutdown purposes.
Poor rural electric system here.

I'm currently living in a small Carriage House - 4 room apartment, and the
strip/batt tuck well under the computer table.
