Hello again Dudes and Dudets. Is their a way to invoke a local policy that prohibits installations on limited accounts, but administrators can install things on Windows XP? Does this make sense? A friend wants to know. hehe

f you are using XP home you can make the user a limited account and not an administrator. It may cause some problems running older programs, but it will stop them from installing "some" applications, but not all.
Unfortunately there are no group policies available for XP Home. You may be able to do it using the Group Policy editor in XP Professional by restrciting users from using the Windows Installer. Those apps that do not use the windows installer may not be affected by this setting though.
