I have had registry problems ever since my computer was redone, so when I found Registry Booster I thought some of my problems would go away. I was wrong. Now The Sims 2: Open for Business has a crash error while loading, and I uninstalled RB, so I can't undo the changes to registry. Any clue on what I should do other than an all out hard drive wipe?

but instead selecting "command prompt " and running scanreg/fix ?

Scanreg may fix the problem, but it only keeps the last five days that you restarted the computer in memory, so if this problem is before that, it won't be likely to fix it.

Registry programs are very dangerous in this way because they often remove things that are necessary along with the debris that accumulates. It's a better idea to plan a fresh reinstall once or twice a year than to try cleaning the registry.

If you do use Scanreg /restore, it will also bring back whatever was cleaned out of the registry. To use it, start the computer from a command prompt by tapping F8 while booting, until you get the boot menu, choose command prompt. You'll get a DOS prompt on a black screen. Type:

scanreg /restore

and hit enter and it will show you the last five registry saves and whether they were started. Choose one from before you cleaned the registry and allow Windows to replace it, then restart the computer normally.

I tried doing scanreg, but the latest one was 3/20, so I had to re-install my new mobo and processor, and now I get a blue screen error while starting up in normal mode. It starts up in safe mode just fine. I'm bringing the computer to a tech nearby who, from the sounds of what he told me, knows what he's doing. He's going to backup stuff and do a re-install from the hard-disk, so thanks for the help, but it didn't work.
