Hi (first timer)

I had to install a new Power Supply in a Win98se computer 233 mhz 127 meg ram. Booted up OK then I lost the network connection and could not get access even though the cable was ok (have cable tester).
Installed new Dlink 538tx Ethernet PCI adapter and finally got the network connection working.
However I cannot get the Internet to work or ACCPAC 4.2 for some reason. I did all the Adaware, Spybot, Antivirus stuff in Safe Mode and Tried to Repair the Internet Explorer connection all to no avail. I have run a Hijackthis 1.99.01 log an am willing to post if that helps.

But meanwhile, your problems may not have anything to do with malware.

Chances are the new PCI adapter isn't set up to function. Did it come with any software? Problem is, your software is probably still set up to work with the old one. I'm not actually sure what the problem would be, and if I give the wrong advice, maybe someone will come along and correct me. Most of the network cards I've used have come with software, and will set up your TCP/IP to work with them. It should override the previous software. TCP/IP (I think) has to be bound to the hardware.

The software you should have gotten might require you to quit the add hardware wizard. If you used the software and followed the directions, open Internet Explorer, go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections and click the LAN Settings button, check that "Automatically Detect Settings" is checked.

There is a virus or two that might cause your problem . . .

You might check the D-Link support site for installation help - I would link you to direct help for your card, but they want the exact modelname and I don't know it.
