Hello, I guess I am a cluebie.

At the suggestion of my local ISP, I am running Microsoft Defender and Adaware as my "antispyware"
Adaware catches most everything. MS Defender is catching a TV Media Display.

This is what my screen says:

Category:
Adware

Description:
This program has potentially unwanted behavior.

Advice:
Remove this software immediately.

Resources:
file:
c:\documents and settings\owner\Application Data\tvmcwrd.dll

file:
c:\documents and settings\owner\Application Data\tvmuknwrd.dll

When I go to remove it, it fails. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Defender. It still won't remove it. Adaware isn't catching it at all.

I talked to my ISP tech support and they said that the spyware can keep my Microsoft service pack from updating. Any help would appreciated.

Thanks,
Peyton

Both of these files are installed by TVMEDIA, and often is bundled with other spyware. If running Windows Defender in Safe Mode does not enable it to remove these files, the next step should be to submit a HJT log for our volunteer team of experts to review and then help you with any problems found in the log.

Please read and follow the directions in the BC Preparation Guide; some of the preliminary steps may take care of the problem, but if not, will certainly be generally beneficial:

The preparation guide covers most of what I was going to say; however, in addition with the anti-malware programs the preparation guide advises, I suggest you get yourself a copy of one of these two, excellent anti-malware programs: Ewido (www.ewido.net) or A-Squared (/www.emsisoft.com/en/).
