When we handed them in, then when we got them back the teacher asked me to stay after class becuase she had to talk to me. The suspense was killing me but the reason she wanted me too stay was because she wanted me to enter the poem into a contest so i did. But i will not know till June if i have won or not. I Love You Grandpa…
We ran we played, you fell back.
I Love You Grandpa…
You gave me candy from the closet.
I Love You Grandpa…
You took me to town
You bought me Toys.
I Love You Grandpa…
That day you went to the shop
I remember you walking…
You opened the door, started working,
Clutched your Heart
like a fire grasping timber.
You asked to lie down
Dad took you to bed
You went for a nap.
I Love You Grandpa…
When you woke I was at the foot of the bed…
I watched you clench your heart once again…
I saw the Pain. I saw the Tears. I saw your eyes Close.
I Love You Grandpa…
Grandma came, the ambulance
carried you to the hospital.

When we came into the hospital
You lay in bed.
I Love You Grandpa…
You called me to your side
Took my hand, told me to be Brave
Told me to be Strong
But best of all you told me to be Me.

We watched your eyes close
still Hand in Hand
Mom pulled back.

nurses rushed in
they came and went.
