You know, at first glance at the characters, I definatly thought Vaan would be worse than Tidus. In reality, Vaan turned out much better than Tidus. Vaan may be dressed funky, but his voice and voice acting doesn't stink. I also like the fact on how decent the in-game graphics work. Also, I like how they took care of the jittery character problems with the close up shots like in FFX. The one problem I have with FFXII is the music, a lot of the tracks sound more fit in the scenario of getting an airship rather than everywhere type music.
So far at eleven hours, I've been enjoying my time with FFXII so far. I just can't play it now because I was only playing my friend's FFXII because he accidently left it over my house for a few days.

I am going to have to disagree with you on two counts. First, take Rise of Nations. It had a similar appearance to the first AOE games (not including AOE 3 of course) but was a better game in every respect; from troop management, to economics, to the scope of technological advance.
The second count: IMO, Starcraft was overrated. Total Annihilation was superior in every way. A vast number of units and structures...more than any RTS before or after, that I am aware of; more control over resources and construction, ect ect.
I realize that a lot of folks got into Starcraft, but it's really more on par with the C&C games in terms of complexity...or lack there of. Not that C&C's were bad, they were fun, but there wasn't a lot to them.
Though I must admit, the smaller almost cult-like following of TA scoffs at Starcraft's popularity a bit...

I would have to say that my favorite game of all time is the Legend of Zelda series. I have all the games and I am waiting for the new one, Twilight Princess, that I preordered. My favorite game out of this series is a toss up between Ocarina of Time and the Wind Waker. I just really love all of the Zelda games.
My favorite computer game is probably Traitor's Gate.

Ask me a month ago I wouldve said Counter strike: Source but now I would probably say Battlefield 2. Dont get me wrong Counter strike: Source is a brilliant game but Battlefield 2 is so much more detailed and the possibilities are endless.

I cant get over how few votes there were for Starcraft. I didnt realize it was so little thought of. I have determined to try some of these other games just to see what all the fuss is about.

With the release of Final Fantasy XII, I have to add it to the top of my list. The only gripe I have against the game is it's length. I'm nearing the end and have completed half of the side quests and, according to the timer, I'm approaching hour 90. By far it's the longest game I've played.

One of the first games i ever played was Zork... and it got me interested in further playing video games.
In my elementary years, i would have to say that my favorite game was Super Mario RPG, i still get drawn back to that even now...
I then moved onto my console years where i played through all of the final fantasy games, and all the Zelda games... and well, just a lot of games, my favorite during that time being Final Fantasy 9.
Then came my LAN years.... when i could finaly actually afford a computer... and the massive computer gaming followed, including a huge love of computer RPGs, both single and multi-player, and almost every popular FPS.
I hate narrowing down to favorites because each game played is an experience that you will keep with you forever, but...
Favorite Games:
RPGs- Morrowind, Final Fantasy 9, Oblivion
Strategy - Rise of Nations, Warcraft III
FPS - Battlefield 1942 on to Vietnam and BF2
Old school - Zork, Quake, Super Mario RPG, Zelda- a link to the past, BattleCrash
All Time - Morrowind
meh, maybe that was a bit too descriptive....

hmm...hard to say really.
simcity would fit the simulation genre. love it because of the city building, moddability, and open ended gameplay.
the GTA series would fit the driving/action genre. same points as above. plus I'm always willing to take a drive around and smash stuff up

then theres the RE series. despite the lack of modibility and open ended gameplay, i love it. but not nearly as much as the above two.
