I recently managed to download a file, which turned out to be a trojan virus (as far as I'm aware of). I had some trouble with spyware quake and other known issues, but was able to get rid of almost everything by using AVG Anti virus, Ad-Aware, Spybot, rougescanfix and smitfraudfix.

My operating system is windows XP professional, with service pack 2, and I'm using mozilla firefox as my default web browser.


I have one problem left on my computer and that is a popup problem. Internet Explorer is frequently opening an error message that states that:
"Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly".
I have allready checked out problems that can occur with activeX settings, and have deliberatelly disabled activeX in IE.
The problem however, is that I checked out my temporary internet files in local settings, and found that something is trying to make IE connect to certain websites that i have never heard of, hence the blocked popups.

I don't know what is trying to activate IE. My antivirus program or any of the other programs listed above also don't seem to know what or where the problem is located, so if anyone has any ideas, or have experienced the same problem, please let me know.

Hope that i have been able to give you an idea of some sort.

Sounds like you still have malware on your system and need more cleaning.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose: Select All.
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use Firefox browser

Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

If you use Opera browser

Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
