Hi,

I'm using Norton Antivirus as a part of Norton Systemworks 2003 in Windows XP Pro and would appreciate some advice on a problems I'm having.

The last few weeks I haven't been able to complete a virus scan because Norton gets stuck on a certain folder and puts loads of backslashes on the end of it.

For example it might say it's scanning something like this:

C:\Documents and Settings\Joe\My Documents\Folder Name\Folder Name\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

It'll then get stuck on this folder with all the slashes and not do anymore. I tried deleting the folder it was getting stuck on once and it just got stuck on another folder with all the backslashes as above.

Please could someone suggest what I should do to correct the problem?

Thanks,
Joe

you could try and add the folder that gets stuck in the exclusion list,
and then do a manual scan on that folder.

Otherwise i would consider taking some serious action too, that could be a sign of virus and your norton cannot handle it cause the way norton scans now and days has alterted sevearly from NSW/NAV2003
