Not a good idea. Is your current operating system ME? Was it a system that originally had recovery disks? If it was installed using the basic ME or 98 system disk, your best bet would be to find your license key first, then use a regular copy of the disk to reinstall.

What brand of computer is it? What model is the computer? Are the Recovery Disks for the same model and make computer?
What is the problem with your computer that you need to fresh install ME?

Its a HP paviloin xt 919. I dont have the recovery disks from this computer but I have them from my old compaq.
Its not one thing really Its a bunch of things. I get warnings that some file or anouther (always diffrent) is missing or corrupt. So most of my games and poker sites wont run and IE shuts down all the time.

If those are Compaq recovery disks they will not work with a HP. Recovery disks not only have to be used with that brand they have to be used with the same model generally speaking.
You may want to uninstall Java, Flash player, and reinstall them. These programs can beome corrupted and cause some web sites and games not to function properly or at all.
