Pandy
vice you did miss one character.

Fleance - Banquo’s son, who survives Macbeth’s attempt to murder him. At the end of the play, Fleance’s whereabouts are unknown. Presumably, he may come to rule Scotland, fulfilling the witches’ prophecy that Banquo’s sons will sit on the Scottish throne.

Here is one more for you vice and then I must go. Please explain the meaning behind this quote from the play and also please include which act and scene it was in.

Whence is that knocking?—
How is’t with me, when every noise appals me?
What hands are here! Ha, they pluck out mine eyes.
Will all great Neptune’s ocean wash this blood
Clean from my hand? No, this my hand will rather
The multitudinous seas incarnadine,
Making the green one red.

Discuss the theatrical use of the three witches in the structure of the play Macbeth.

Compare and contrast the psychological after-effects of the many murders in the minds of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. Does their remorse, or lack thereof, contribute to their downfall?

Regards,
John

Well The withces add tension and excitement and makes the play 'spooky'. The withces always have an air of mystery surronding them, so the audience always hangs around for more

Macbeth was always the flower, while Lady Macbeth was the viper. He was timid and very lost, while Lady M. always had a plan. Before the murder - Lady M. Dreamt big! But Macbeth wasn' sure - he was comanded by Lady M. He should have had more controle over her becasue as a man he should be the leader.
After numerous murders, Macbeth started going crazy, loosing his faith - but Lady M. was determined to continue. Their downfall was equaled when they began fearing others finding about their plots, and began lacking faith.

Atm thats all i can think of mellow.gif

Act II, Sc. II. is where you can find Pandy's quotation. Washing and water are a lietmotif in several scenes of the play.
Fate and how people react to it. Would Macbeth have been tempted by the wierd sister's predictions, without his wife urging him on? And what would have happened if he had never heard them---would he and his wife plotted their way to kingship?
Cheers,
John
vise
It's all about his wife, he was smart not to continue but his wife wanted power (like all women).
He would of styed in place, because he respected Duncan for his smartness and kindness , but beacuse of his wife - he had to be greedy, and they both chewed more than they could've swallowed.

I dobt thta they would've plotted to kingship if they didn;t hear the prophecies. I mean Macbeth was a loyal soldier of King Duncan - he loved his king and he was happy at his crrent position. And anyway - at the beginnig it looked like his name would be royalty some time soon, if it were'nt for thos witches
vise
anyway ty for help - my tests are scheduled in roughly 2 weeks - wish me luck lol
Pandy
I certainly do wish you luck vise. smartass.gif
