I have an old IBM thinkpad 2651 laptop with windows 2000, and it used to run fine, but one day i pressed the power button and the computer came on, but nothing happened. It dosent make any of the usual clicking noises that it made when booting, it just idles, so i know its not the display thats broken. All it does is just sit there doing nothing. I havent changed anything since the last time it worked, so i have no clue what is wrong with it... any ideas?

Have you tried to boot from a floppy or CD just to see if it will. It could be a failed drive. Does the mouse cursor come up or just a blank screen?

Just a blank screen, like it usually has the memory counting going on at first but nothing happens now. I push the power button, then literally 3 seconds later the thing is idling.

If you have more than one RAM module remove one and boot. If that one does not work try the other. you could possibly have a bad module. Are hearing beeps at POST?

Nope no beeps, and ive tried both memory modules in and out of both slots in all 6 ways possible. Think it would be a little too coincidental to have both sticks of ram die at the same time... i dont think ive been near any nuclear explosions lately ;)
