I'd like to hear what yall recommend as a replacement for Norton Systemworks/Internet Security 2005. I've looked into Zone Alarm, PC-cillin and some others. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Take it easy, yall.

Thanks! The link to the forum topic really helped. Acklan, as for your personal recommendations, I have two questions. Is the sygate firewall a free trial? Lastly, the AVG antivirus, is there much of a difference between the pro and free versions in terms of features and download speed for updates?

Again, really appreciate the help.

Cheers,
PJ

All of the programs on the list, that rookie147 provided a link to, are used by our members.
They're all good programs that are spyware/malware free, and Free.

Choose only one Antivirus, one Firewall, and all of the spyware programs that your system can handle.
Using more than one AV, or Firewall, will cause conflicts, rendering the programs ineffective.

The Sygate firewall, is a free firewall, for unlimited use.

For AVG, there isn't much difference between the free, or paid versions.
You can compare the differences at the link acklan provided.
Most use the free version, like me. smile.gif
Why pay for something, if you don't have to?

No this is not the Trial verison as provided at the Smantec site. This is the full freeware verison. It is no longer supported but it is free.

As far as I am aware the AVG Free is the same as the paid verison except, 1 it will not workon a server, 2 you can only run it in the full mode. You cannot use it in a selective mode. All or nothing. I have been using it for several year and am very satisfied.
