Hey guys
I've noticed this in the past, but I have never asked anyone about it before. I have Bell Sympatico DSL Highspeed. When I am downloading something, the speed starts off very high and then begins to decrease. For example, I just downloaded Open Office, and I noticed the download speed at a crazy-high 1000+kbps. As usual, it started to go down rapidly, dropping over 50kbps every second. Eventually, it settles around 170kbps. So, why can't stay at the high speeds it stars off at?
And what is the average speed that you guy get from your internet?

Hi StEvE21
I don't know the answer, but my theory is that as soon as you click on download it starts loading into a buffer. When you've spent time deciding where to download to, then the buffer empties quickly then you're back to a normal speed.

The answer is (to me any way) convoluted and over my head but hopefully you will be able find out why at the following link:

It very well may be caused from the other end by the server from which you are downloading, especially large files.
