Um how many 80mm fans should a case be filled with?
Herk
All cases are different. My preference is one in the front, one in the back, and one on the power supply. Pentium 4 processors often need extra air, and many new cases have a side fan. My main computer has all of the above. Most computers use the power supply fan to vent the case. Some cases have an extra space on the back for a 120mm fan. My favorite power supplies have a 120mm fan on the bottom of the power supply.

But some computers only have a power supply fan. (Not counting the processor fan and maybe a video card fan) Some use the processor fan with a shield that vents to outside.

Well my case has a 80mm on the side and back, and a 90mm in the front as well as a 120mm on my powersupply should that keep my case cool?
Klinkaroo
You should have no problem... but if you think of Overclocking or anything like that there might be a few little changes.
Firepaw
Um do you think that would be ok without the 90mm fan in the front?
Klinkaroo
It should... but why would you want to take it out?
HitSquad
Thermaltake Xaser II
Two front intake
Two rear exhaust
One side Exhaust
One top exhaust. (modded in)
One cpu fan
Two PS Fans
9 fans total
No, that's not a 747 landing on the house, it's just my computer running. smile.gif
Klinkaroo
Holly crap... I hope you never overheat...
Enthusiast
If that isn't enough there are liquid coolers available.
Klinkaroo
Liquid cooling is also quieter wich is nice if it is in your living room but can be a pain if you lug your pc to LAN Parties alot...

Or put it a close and install a window A\C unit. I have seen this done with small office servers.
Firepaw
Well my case has a spot in the front for a fan but its in a small box that almost impossible to stick a fan onto...
Firepaw
Will it be fine without that fans though? (if it isnt i'll try my hardest to somehow put the fan in. Be it tape or any other way)
legoman786
Well, what are you running? (CPU, Video Card, etc) I would suggest getting a whole new case. Get some more airflow through it.
acklan
Break out the Dremel® Tool and modify the case yourself. Make sure you do not get any metal shavings on the motheboard.
Firepaw
Its already built...

Try and see what happens.

You could always get a case like this one HERE. It's got a 14cm (140mm) fan in the front and a 25cm (250mm) fan on the side. You can also add 2 80mm fans in the back. This case would solve any heat problems you might (ever) have. Also keep you nice and cool in the summer wink.gif
legoman786
That's really not a bad case. In fact, this case could possibly keep even quad SLI cool! And for $106 w/o shipping, it's a steal!
Firepaw
I really dont want to get a new case after just building my computer...

Then take the time and modify it your self. I have attached addional fans with wire ties. That the mothermoard back out and use a ½" drill bit and drill a dozen or so holes for the grill and the proper size for the attaching screws and install it. You can do it.
Firepaw
Is one more fan good enough or should i add more then that?
acklan
To be honest I thought the ones you have now were plenty. I just thought you were having fun adding to you machine.
Firepaw
oh lol there is enough fans? (this computer might be on for hours running games like Oblivion)
Firepaw
So do i do do i not need another fan?
acklan
If it were me, and I had one I would modify it in. Not because I thought I need it but because I like tinkering. I think you have enough. If you see a problem with heat you can always add the fan.
