This should be an easy one for you guys.
I have some digital pics that I want to email. However the service I want to mail through has a measley 150 MB limit on emails. How do I compress pics to be able to send? cool.gif

I use Irfanview.

A quick tutorial on how to do it:
Reducing An Image's File Size By Reducing It's Image Quality Using Irfanview

Is that 150MB right? Many email services I know have a limit of 10MB, even so that should be enough for a dozen high res photos. How big are your pics?

Picasa from Google

I use Picasa with my digital camera.
I find the simplest thing to do is resize a picture to around 800 width & preserve aspect ratio.
Then open it with Paint & save as a .jpg.

Around 100 KBs is the usual result with good quality retained.
Some start out over 2 MBs.

The more you reduce file size, the more loss of quality.

You could send them a few at a time if the file size is large.
On a dial up connection it would take a long time to download over 150 MBs worth of images.

You can also reduce the size of a .jpg file without loss of quality by using jpg cleaner.
It removes the information from the jpg about the program that was used to create it, which nearly all jpg's have and is not required for viewing.

Thank you all for your replies thumbup.gif
I misquoted the the space limit of the site. It is 150KBS NOT MBS.
Anyway, I downloaded Irfanview and that did the trick beautifully!!! wink.gif

You are also welcome to a gmail invitation for free email from google if you like.
I would simply need you to send me a working email address.
Use phawgg(at)gmail.com if you like. smile.gif
It has the 10mb limit, but 2.7gb storage & extra features.
