The Senate just rejected the will of the American people

Grassfire.org Alliance
Bush-Kennedy Amnesty Bill Update
To:

Update 6/26/07-- post-cloture vote

The Senate just rejected the will of the American people
in voting 64-35 to "invoke cloture" on the motion to proceed.

And your New Jersey Senator has voted "yes" to amnesty!

What this means---

The Senate will now begin rushing the Bush-Kennedy amnesty
bill through a rigged process designed to suppress opposition.
We expect the second "cloture" vote to come within 48 hours
and final passage by week's end...unless we rise up as citizens
and say "No"!

We can still stop this bill -- only a handful of Senators
need to switch their votes to "no" on the next cloture vote.

+ + Fax a Giant "A is for Amnesty" to the Amnesty Senators

We need to make it absolutely clear that a "yes" vote for
cloture is a "yes" vote for amnesty.

That's why I want to flood the offices of your New Jersey
Senator and each of the 64 senators who voted for amnesty
today with thousands of faxes emblazoned with a giant "A."

Of course, the "A" stands for Amnesty!

We have set up our FaxFire system to fax your customized fax
to each of the 64 senators who voted for amnesty today with
just such a fax.

Your fax will be emblazoned with a giant "A" for amnesty
and call on the Senators to change their vote or forever be
labeled an "amnesty senator."

Go here to send your faxes:

http://www.grassfire.org/19042/offer.asp?12043563

If you want to send your own faxes with a giant "A", please
do so! You can get all the contact information by clicking
the link above.

We have just 48 hours to make our case.

Please send your faxes, and call your senators (phone numbers
are also available by clicking the link above).

Don't let discouragement stop you from taking action.
We can still stop amnesty!

Thanks for the update, Boopme. I went to that link, and it seemed to require a payment in order to send the fax. I do not oppose contributing to grassfire.org, but www.NumbersUSA.com offers this service for free.

http://www.securebordersnow.com/ is a free petition to sign that offers room for comments.

http://www.NumbersUSA.com is a free-fax service that supports secure American borders. Once you sign up, they will offer you appropriate faxes to your local officials based on their actions and your interests. They are a fine group, I have been using their services for at least a year now.

I threatened to sue every senator that votes for amnesty. Wanna see my ranting2.gif?

The American Legion OPPOSES Amnesty. How dare you belittle America's sovereignty after so many Americans have died defending her. Mexicans are not starving, they do not deserve to come illegally into America and take what they want. To support amnesty is vote-whoring, and an illegal act against the Constitution which you swore to uphold. We are being invaded! You MUST recognize this fact and do your job to protect America. Anything less will guarantee an outcry the likes of which modern America has not imagined. I urge you to do right by America, and the people who voted you into office, to protect us from this unfair, illegal INVASION aka Amnesty for felons. We will find a way to sue every Senator that ignores the Constitution and votes FOR amnesty.

As an aside, the muslim senator, first name "Keith" is of course supporting amnesty for these felons. (A second illegal border crossing is a felony although the law is not being enforced).

Is anyone else exuberant over the "immigration reform" bill being killed in the Senate?
JohnWho
I am, sort of.

The problem -

the "new improved" bill that Congress trots out may be even worse.

It's possible that our politicians will listen to "we, the people",

but the cynic in me isn't holding out too much hope.

I would tend to agree with you. Its hard to think that anyone we elect will actually represent what we want.

I agree as well. Isn't that a sad reality? But, aren't we all then guilty of insanity... performing the same action (electing officials) repeatedly and expecting different results?
boopme
I'm glad. It shows that IF the people get on there elected officials they must act as WE the People say. That said it also shows how WE the People better stay vigilant and continue to do something . Stop waiting for the other guy. They were counting on you to sit on your butt and let them hose you and your grand children with a country and tax burden you wouldn't have wanted. Thanks to all who called faxed and spoke out.
MaraM
I'm not sure if this really 'fits' in here but I hope no one minds it being added ...

(Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907)

"In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Sort of - not voting at all, in protest, isn't the answer either, in my opinion.

We are stuck with voting for the person who we think will cause the least amount of damage - the lesser of two evil vote.

I wonder, though - if we would all keep voting out the incompetent incumbents, would the message get across?

Nice quote MaraM.

I believe that if a poll of US citizens was taken, showing that quote and then asking -

"Do you:

Strongly agree

Somewhat agree

Neither agree or disagree

somewhat disagree

strongly disagree

We would have an overwhelming majority in agreement with that statement.

Unfortunately, the current Congressional leadership would be in the disagree column, yet they say they are in touch with the people!?

Actually JohnWho, Congress would not take part in the survey until there were options written in Spanish.
JohnWho
No irony there.

I thought this was an interesting video, concerning the numbers behind the illegal invasion of the US. This man does a good job of explaining why the sentiment, "They are just looking for a better life." is worthy, but unattainable by current methods.

I guess it goes back to the old adage:

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day,
Teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime.

You know, I respect that sentiment and can even understand why many people would break our nation's laws to get away from an essentially lawless country.

Doesn't make it right, but it sure is understandable.
blueandgold04
I agree. I am not without compassion. However, it is not my role to provide a better life for others when I am struggling to provide it for myself and those I love.

And, as that video displays, the method currently employed is not going to bring about constructive change.

But, yes, it is understandable.

Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean, are still in jail with the people they arrested, while awaiting appeal and after being beaten while in jail.

I thought y'all might like to see the elements of the conviction by a federal jury:
- causing serious bodily injury (bad guy was shot in the butt)
- assault with a deadly weapon (in response to invasion, protected by the Constitution)
- discharge of a firearm in relation to a crime of violence (I believe they issue firearms to Border Patrol Agents to deter crime: you would think they would use this against the guy who was breaking the law, not trying to enforce it!!!)
- a civil rights violation. (aliens have civil rights while they are commiting crimes?)

These Agents were sentenced to 12 and 11 years' imprisonment, respectively. Three of the jurors said afterwards they were inclined to deliver a not guilty verdict but had been told by the jury foreman that the judge wanted them to "go along with majority." To add insult to injury, Aldrete-Davila, the illegal alien drug-runner, also received care at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso -- and now he's suing the government for violating his "civil rights"!
(source, rightmarch.com, teamtancredo, and Fox news)

Does this irritate anyone? Our lawmakers swear to uphold the Constitution which provides for war against invasion. They protect and defend the bad guys, and put dangerous criminals like Martha Stewart in jail. When they couldn't make a case, they used the "lying and obstruction of justice" routine. Just think: you get accused of something, the feds can't make their case, so they get a conviction because you defended yourself during their investigation!!! The DEA uses the drug laws against cancer patients with wasting disease, but are nowhere around when the smugglers are doing their dirty deeds.
MaraM
Wow! I sort of think of illegal people as a tad different than illegal smugglers but off I went to see what I could find about the Border Patrol guards mentioned. And yup, wow! It seem so very 'odd' that it would be funny this could actually happen - if not for the lives of two guards and their families being destroyed.

I simply and utterly 'dont' get it'. Especially after reading a copy of the letter one of their relatives, Joe A. Loya, wrote to Honorable Congressman Walter Jones. Source: http://www.americanfreedomriders.com/JoeLoyaLetter.html
