Metro ponders signs in Spanish

QUOTE
Metrorail officials are considering adding permanent Spanish-language signs, system maps, fare-card machines and announcements in stations after a push by immigration advocates.

And they listened why??

QUOTE
The estimated cost of the changes is at least $500,000 per station and as much as $900,000 for a large, multilevel station such as Metro Center or L'Enfant Plaza.

dry.gif Let them pay for it then, if they are so worried about it!
Actually if the legal immigrants would learn English, and the illegal ones weren't allowed to stay.
This would all be moot, now wouldn't it??

I take that as a good sign, but unfortunatly there are still American(?) cities that are
sympathic towards illegal aliens. Now.. if only those mindless liberals would realize that not all
illegals were here to become upstanding American citizens. There are way to many here involved
in other illegal activities besides just the fact that they are here illegally.....

Which is excactly why blanket sanctuary and its equally moronic cousin blanket amensty

The Open Borders Mayor
Don’t fall for Mayor Bloomberg’s immigration plan.
10 July 2006

Bloomberg testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearings on immigration reform in Philadelphia, convened to counter the House’s simultaneous hearings on the costs and risks of illegal immigration. The mayor offered an eloquent defense of open borders. The flow of people into the United States is a force of nature, beyond mortal control, he said. We can no more stop the influx than a beachgoer can stop the tides. The decision about whether to enter the country and under what conditions is entirely the immigrant’s, not the American people’s.

Force of nature?? Up to the immigrants??
Thank you for that thought provoking insight Señor Alcalde Michael Bloomberg.

San Francisco Supervisors' Resolution Puts City In Precarious Position

QUOTE
SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco's supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday in favor of a resolution that confirms their dedication to provide sanctuary to undocumented immigrants. But by offering a safe haven, they may have placed the city in danger of losing its federal homeland security funding.

Please don't fall for the stereotype that all San Franciscan's are bleeding-heart liberals dedicated to socialism and open borders and such. True, San Francisco is a very liberal place, and I myself consider myself left-leaning. However, I, and many of my friends, are just as pissed off and angry over illegal immigration as anyone else is.

I have no beef with anyone of any race, nationality, or whatnot whatsoever provided they abide by all just and Constitutional laws; for example immigration laws, anti-murder laws, anti-drug laws, etc. Take a walk in the Mission District here in SF and you'll definitely see an illegal immigrant and there's a chance he'll either try to sell you drugs or kill you. That's just my personal opinion (and experience).

Growing up in central California, I saw first hand the waves of illegal immigrants flocking to the open arms of the local commercial farmers and dairies. I saw also the detrimental effect it had on the city's and county's resources. It drove wages down to the point where practically no one could get a job that paid more than minimum wage.

I think my brother-in-law, a legal immigrant from Mexico, said it best a while ago when this topic came up. I can't post it verbatim here, but here's the PG-13 version:

"(gosh-darn) they piss me off! It took me 10 (expletive)-ing years to become a (gosh-darned) citizen and now the (expletive)-ing government wants to just reward all these (expletive)-ing (expletive)'s for breaking the very same (expletive)-ing laws I had to go through? Bull-(expletive)!"

To summarize: The San Francisco County Supervisors do not neccessarily speak for all San Franciscans. While San Francisco does have the image of being open minded and friendly to all peoples, that only applies if you're an ultra-left wing bleeding-heart liberal, or if you're gay (good thing for me or else they'd have kicked me out long ago!)

Another thing regarding the assertion that hispanics are the "indigenous" and "original owners" of North America. Bull-(expletive)! If they want they're "homeland" back, then half of them should leave the Western Hemisphere and start protesting in Madrid, while the other half takes a brisk walk accross the Bering Strait (sorry, the land-bridge is gone. Can you swim?)

Illegal aliens linked to gang-rape wave

Mexico plots reconquest

The Mexican government is not just winking at massive illegal immigration into the U.S., it is actively plotting it as a strategy at reconquest of American territories formerly under its control, charges Pat Buchanan in a blistering new indictment of border security. QUOTE
Reflecting on his early years as the ACLU's Executive Director, Baldwin candidly revealed his original motives and objectives. "I am for socialism, disarmament, and ultimately, for abolishing the state itself as an instrument of violence and compulsion," he stated. "I seek social ownership of property, the abolition of the properties class, and sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal. It all sums up into one single purpose -- the abolition of dog-eat-dog under which we live. I don't regret being part of the communist tactic. I knew what I was doing. I was not an innocent liberal. I wanted what the communists wanted and I traveled the United Front road to get it."

Two men were arrested, and two others are wanted. All are illegal immigrants.

I think the Mexican's should, instead of coming here and ruining our country, stay in their own and fix it. I'm sure they could eventually do it.. Also, have a look at this little article I found on another forum (if you want to know which forum, PM me about it):

LET'S SAY I BREAK INTO YOUR HOUSE

Recently large demonstrations have taken place across the country protesting the fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal immigration. Certain people are angry that the US might protect its own borders, might make it harder to sneak into this country and, once here, to stay indefinitely. Let me see if I correctly understand the thinking behind these protests.

Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hard working and honest (except for when I broke into your house).

According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part). If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there.

It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hard working and honest, um, except for, well, you know.

And what a deal it is for me!! I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice, and being an anti-housebreaker. Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me.

Why can't people see how ridiculous this is?! Only in America.....if you agree, pass it on (in ENGLISH). Share it if you see the value of it as a good simile. If not, blow it off along with your future Social Security funds.
Scarlett
Excactly.
yano
I agree.

I don't think we should be allowing illegals into our country. If one once to get into this country to form a better life, one shall simply take the citizenship text and enter.

We don't need our country being invaded. However, I don't think we should make the current illegals "leave," let's just cut off there supply. Let's give the current illegals' credit. They have avoided our ever most honest, loyal, and oh so tough government for so long.
kbk
I'm glad you agree smile.gif. On another site I posted this at, people from other countries (mostly Ireland and England) told me I was a horrible person for thinking that way.. I can't understand how people who don't live here, and have never lived here, think they can tell us which is the right way to think... Just doesn't make sense to me..
Scarlett
In Europe they have much worse immigration problems. If some wish to hide thier heads in the sand, oh well.... Even France is becoming wise to the fact and they were one of the most open countries. Look at the riots(?) that occur. In Brussels for instance the police are told it is ‘not expedient’ to patrol [in the Brussels suburb of Molenbeek] and officers are not allowed to drink coffee or eat a sandwich in the street during ramadan.

Gee whiz! That is like someone being a guest in one's home and making all the rules, and bossing around the owner. A prime example of the immigrants having the upper hand. And that is a mild case in point.

Multi-Culturization that runs rampant has been the downfall of civilizations throughout history. Facts are facts. And when a country's immigrants have a chance of becoming the majority, the country's identity is lost for one thing. Also when ever imigrants hail from a culture that is so different than it's host country there is a clash of civilizations. Especially when they refuse to assimilate.

Turning Red: Immigrants Tip the Balance in Belgian Local Elections
From the desk of Paul Belien on Mon, 2006-10-09 10:50

In last March’s local elections in the Netherlands the immigrant vote tipped the balance in favour of the Socialists. The same phenomenon marked yesterday’s local elections in Belgium’s major cities. In Antwerp the Socialists became the largest party. They jumped from 19.5% to 35.3% of the votes, winning 22 of the 55 seats in the municipal council – a gain of ten seats. Seven of the Socialist councillors, almost one third of the total, are Muslim immigrants: Fatma Akbas, Karim Bachar, Ouardia El Taghdouini, Youssef Slassi, Fauzaya Talhaoui, Güler Turan, and Sener Ugurlu. Six of the seven are new in politics.
