Many of you were saying that you have no problem wiht legal immigrants, but I ask you: do you know what it's like to gain legal passage to the U.S.?
My family spent 1 full year in a refugee camp waiting entry to the US.
I am against illegal immigration, and all other crimes
QUOTE
Second of all, the vast majority of illegal immigrants are simply people like you and me who are searching for a better life.
Do you have any links to websites with numbers which back this up? Most of what I've heard about this has come to a different conclusion - that there is a much larger percentage of illegal immigrants who are dangerous criminals than the percentage of legal immigrants or Americans, so I'd be curious to see some more information on the topic.

Who of us would not do whatever is in our power to ensure that our family has food to eat every day, a shelter, access to medical care, etc. Can you imagine what you would do when your family is living a life where you or your husband or wife cannot find work while your family needs food and shelter and doctors and clothes?
YES!, but it doesn't take much imagination - I lived it
Is that a good excuse for
CRIME????
QUOTE
OK, and honestly, "we're being taken down from the inside" ?????!!! what's that about? how can you honestly say that?
Read some of the links that have been posted in this thread. There are people interested in seeing the rights of criminals promoted above those of legal immigrants, or even native born Americans
QUOTE
Much of this land actually used to be part of Mexico-- and NO I"m not saying that in a revolutionary sense saying that Mexico needs to take back it's land, I'm not even hispanic. We took over this land from Native Americans in a brutal manner, now you're going to say that after many peaceful protests and a few pockets of violent ones, that they're taking it over?
When you asy 'they' it looks like you are confusing race, nationality and immigrant status, specifically, illegal, criminal immigrant status. True, this land used to be part of Mexico, but what does that have to do with anything? Rfance, Russia, and Poland used to be part of Germany - and no one cares. Why should anyone care? That fact is completely irrelevant.
QUOTE
Even like the maybe three people who have said that out of millions, do not represent even close to a majority of hispanics. They are extremists. Just like the KKK were an extremist group- are all white people associated with the KKK just because the KKK were white?
Why is it then that wee see so many extremists on TV and so few non-extremists?
QUOTE
Another thing, I am actually going to participate in a march next week, and I'm not an illegal immigrant. I just wanted to point that out. I am a white, native born american, with Scottish and German ancestors and yes, I support Hispanic Civil Rights. The reality is that a whole lot of illegal immigrants are too afraid to participate in the protests, and the people who are planning it in many cities are all legally here. Anyone I know who's going to the march are all legally here. I noticed that many think that it's all illegal immigrants in the marches.
Please just remember that every single illegal immigrant I have met is here to work and make money for his or her family so that they can survive or at least find something better for their family. What parent does not want the best for their kids? What parent can watch their kid not eat enough food or have some things that he or she wants?
My parents! Thank you for that implication! So, just because my family emigrated here legally, that means my parents 'can watch their kid not eat enough food'?!?! Just because my parent refused to sacrifice their integrity, that makes them worse parents than those who would steal to feed their children???
QUOTE
Not to mention that every single immigrant I have met, illegal or legal, has had the desire to learn the language here, even though it may take a while and is uncomfortable.
Apparently, you haven't been to Chicago. There are plenty of people in the US, some of whom were even born in the US, who never learn to speak English.
QUOTE
After saying all this, what I think is that before our government can crack down on illegal immigration, the system needs to be improved so that these people can actually get here legally. After that happens, then by all means, let's crack down on illegal immigration because then we know exactly who's coming and going.
Let's crack down on illegal immigration first, and then improve the system so that people can get here legally. That way, we'll have fewer criminals fleeing prosecution in Mexico by running to the US :
