Dear Everyone,
I know that there are now alot of free anti-malware scans out there.
Does anyone know about Trend Micro PC-Cillin?..is it worth downloading the free trial or are the free scans just as good. I know protection is v.important but I am more into manual scanning to keep 'er moving fast..any opinions would be much appreciated.

With all due respect, manual antivirus scanning is dangerous. All it takes is to relax one time and you will be fighting an infection for days, weeks or in the worst case repairing your personal life from intrution bank or credit cards. Youo cannot react as fast as the antivirus programs can. You should also have a firewall that blocks out going (unlike Microsoft firewall) in case a malware/virus/trojan slips under the wire. IMO

Reviews and rankings really depend on the methodologies used, especially on the data tested. For example, Trend Micro PC-Cillin

Very useful. Thanks v much for all your replies.
BTW, I have re-armed firewall and Background Scanning as opposed to Manual.
Does anyone know at all why Sygate keeps reporting that a particular application or driver is trying to access the network after I clicked "dont display this message again".
The application that I chose to block was called
NDIS UserMode I/O.
Thanks for your inputs...always appreciated.
