Hi
I have used the database to identify items that I dont ( I hope!) need at start up (about half of those in the list shown by the msconfig utility).
I plan to remove these one at a time (I am using Smart Pc programme for this) and to check for problems (if any) at start-up.
Is this the correct approach to take and is there anything else I should be doing.
Thanks for any comments/suggestions.

Are you removing these startups because they are not needed or because they are malware? If they think they are malware, and you want to be 100% sure, you can always scan them via

Hi Lawrence
Thanks for your response. None of the items in my start up appear to be malware. I'm just trying to speed up my comp by taking out SU items I don't need. I thought if I removed them one at a time, if there were to be a problem I would then know what caused it
Best Wishes

Thats the proper way of doing it.
