Full Version: Removing Start Up Items

Hi

I have used the database to identify items that I dont ( I hope!) need at start up (about half of those in the list shown by the msconfig utility).

I plan to remove these one at a time (I am using Smart Pc programme for this) and to check for problems (if any) at start-up.

Is this the correct approach to take and is there anything else I should be doing.

Thanks for any comments/suggestions.

Are you removing these startups because they are not needed or because they are malware? If they think they are malware, and you want to be 100% sure, you can always scan them via http://virusscan.jotti.org/

Hi Lawrence

Thanks for your response. None of the items in my start up appear to be malware. I'm just trying to speed up my comp by taking out SU items I don't need. I thought if I removed them one at a time, if there were to be a problem I would then know what caused it

Best Wishes

Thats the proper way of doing it.
