We use WinME on a HP Pavilion 8765C We've had this computer for 6 years now and this is the first time this has happened.Everything was fine until, suddenly we log on and instead of being greeted by the same old sight we now have to use the arrows across the bottom of the page in order to view the entire contents. We use to scroll up/down but we could always see everything from side to side now in order to read the entire page we have to slowly move the little ''bar" from side to side unless the story we're reading happens to run only down the left or right side of the page. I hope I'm explaining this clearly enough to get help with it. It's very frustrating and time consuming and most of all its a change neither my wife nor I have made or requested ( we're the only two with access to the computer)
To restate the problem, every page on every site has expanded from filling the screen to now being too large to fit therefore we're forced to use the arrows and sliding bar across the bottom in order to view an entire page and its a change that neither my wife nor I have requested. Win ME on a cable 300k.
PLEASE help restore the size of our viewing pages. Thank you in advance, T & J

What browser are you using? It sounds like a default preference was changed.

Are the Icons on the Desktop also enlarged??
Does this only happen when you open your Browser (Websites)??
Look in the Device Manager under the Display Adapter and post your Video Adapter Make & Model.
Device Manager:
Right Click My Computer>Properties>Device Manager

Hi, the browser is IE5.5 (we can't upgrade to vs.6 for some reason it always says that the download was incomplete and to try again, after 10+ attempts we gave up) and to answer the other questions, NO the desktop icons have not changed in size and the windows are expanded on everysite we've tried.example if our homepage is yahoo as soon as it loads across the bottom of the page appears the slider bar with arrows at either end allowing us to move the page side to side.
As for the device manager, when I right clicked the mycomputer icon and went to properties then to device manager all it stated was NVIDIA Vanta (HP-English)
I hope thats the information you requested. Thank you all so much for offering these services you've been a great help.

OK
Thanks for the info.
Open your Browser>View>Text Size>Change this setting and let me know if it works.
As for upgrading to IE6 it sounds as if you have what WinME users call Version Soup.
This should fix the problem, read the instructions and print them if you decide to proceed.

We did the text size change and it WORKED, thank you! but how and why did our computer decide on its own to change the size of the text?It seems very odd to me and even a bit creepy. I'm sure this isn't suppose to happen right?
As far as straining out the WINME soup in order to gain IE6 it seems really complicated and if I screw it up I'll never hear the end of it from my wife so, I'll think about it but it may take me a few days to work up the courage in order to delete/remove/wipeout our system and then try to put the pieces back together and make it work. I'm sure we'll do it soon but right now?? I don't know.Thank you all again for all the answers and advice you offer to us "PC challenged" pawns and rookies and newbies. keep up the good work.

As for it getting changed it could have happened by accident.
Hold the Ctrl key and role the Mouse Wheel will change it.
If you suspect this wasn't the cause feel free to run these spyware & malware cleaning programs.
